After getting a bit bored with my usual spots, I decided to head up to Splitrock Reservoir after reading the article in this months "The Fisherman" magazine.
My first impressions were beautiful place, horrible excuse for a "launch"
. Got to the lake at about 6pm and fished shore structure with the new wacky jack worms that the guys at Meltzers are going crazy about. Had no luck with them besides a few hits.
At about 8pm, I switched over to the floating jointed rapala and immediately caught 1 pretty smallmouth (about 12") and a few over zealous sunnies. Left the lake after dark at about 930pm.
Anyone have any tips for this place? I will be heading back sometime this week after work with the 'yak or in a friends canoe with the trolling motor. Sorry, no pics. I don't consider anything under 12" picture worthy!
