My daughters got kayaks got Christmas. On Saturday morning, one of them was willing to roll out of bed and get to Round Valley early before their lacrosse game. I, of course, took that opportunity to fish.
Kayaking was great and the nice weather really made for a good time. The lack of wind also allowed me to spot five respectable bass all schooled together in a notorious LMB hangout.
So I got my daughter on the boat, casted out to the bass and handed her the rod. One of the five took the bait and the fight was on.
Fortunately most of Round Valley doesn’t anything but open water, so the bass had nowhere to get cut off. After a good fight and lots of patience, my daughter got the bass to come up and I netted it. She was thrilled, but she wouldn’t hold the fish for a picture, so I got stuck with that job. It was her personal best bass.
