St Lawrence river
 

As alot of guys already go to fish the salmon river/black lake area, would there be any interest in a meet&greet on the st lawrence river next spring? Plenty of state parks to camp. Im thinking the weekend after memorial day, give or take. Anyone interested?

I know it seems crazy to talk next spring but reserve america takes reservations 9 months in advance so some place fill up quickly.

I might be interested in that... Used to fish up there every spring but have not been up in a few years...

Just to forewarn you all, you need to be prepared for all sorts of weather up there.. This is the same time of year we'd go up and we've been fishing in tee shirts sometimes and winter close others.

It is however polluted with Small Mouth that average 3 to 4 lbs and some bigguns too :D:D. The season will be closed for Smallies then so all catch and release...

Sounds Very appealing, but no time for me. My son was up there summer, and he saw "pickerel"--lots of them--about 30 inches long. "Maybe they were pike," he said. Maybe. "Should have brought a rod," I said.

Hope you guys like Gobies... the SLR is infested with them.. Bottom is paved solid in some areas.. it makes for a fishing scenario thats changed a lot in the past few years... the game fish are bigger than ever, but not as numerous, and not as hungry.. gobies are now the predominant food source, but are also the predominant predator of eggs and fry of everything else that swims in the river.. Personally, I avoid bass or pan fishing anywhere there are gobies.. You can't use bait at all, and they even jump all over jigs... Get tired of looking at them, and catching them..
. Best bet would be use small bits of worms, catch a bunch of gobies and live line them for the bass.. Everything in the river that eats fish has keyed on the Goby population, but doesn't make a dent in their numbers...

I HATE those little SOB's... might be better off Pike fishing the SLR next year if you get a meet and greet going... bob
