Delaware water gap upstate NY.
 

Hey guys, headed camping this weekend and wondering if I should bring a rod. Going to Barryville NY. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Definitely! After looking at google maps, seems like the Delaware isn't the only thing in the area. A few trout producing tributaries, some lakes and ponds, etc. Even a sportsmans store up there! If it were me, I'd probably be kicking myself if I didn't bring a rod.:D

Lots of great fishin up there. I have rented a house on Lochada lake and Lake Devenoge and caught tons of Largemouth. I think Highland lake has more public access and is also pretty good fishing. Great smallmouth fishing in the Delaware as well.

Great fishing in that section of the river. Although not all of them are very big, you can catch smallies all day long. Just make sure you have a NY license

Along with all the great lake fishing in the area and the already mentioned Del. smallies, the river also holds walleye, channel cats, stripers, and yes, even a few trout in that area although those latter are rather scarce in that part of the river due to elevated summer water temps. Of course not too very far upstream you have suitable temps for some great action on wild rainbows and browns as well as on up into the West Branch Del. which is where I was this past Sun battling big wild browns and 'bows. Heading northerly you'll find the Beaverkill and Willowemoc for trout, and the East Branch Del for a good number of miles below Pepacton Res is some great wild brown trout water! The lower East Branch warms too much for trout but it does offer decent smallie fishing. Good luck wherever you end up!
