Pompton Lake

Going there this weekend for my 2nd time ever. Just wondering how the bite has been, and if the top water (Froggin?) has been, or go deeper?

I was their two weeks ago and the bite was all top water or first 2feet(frogs buzz and weightless zoom fluke)

Inconstient, the water has really went from Chocolate milk to ok and back the last few times I've been.

agreed, its been stained, clear again then high from the rain. plus they have been weed killing it a bunch with the dredging. its kinda all over the place. by the way they changed the trailer parking. you still park on grant or shyler but not in the previous area. its basically just the other side of the street from where ya use to. just watch the signs.

Rich, you hitting it for fun or for a tournament? I was planning on going Sunday if I finish working on the truck Saturday, but that lake gets pretty small if there's a nice size tournament on it.

Top water is the best bet in openings over all of them weeds. Even if the sunshine sends them a bit deeper, that lake doesn't get too deep.

Not completely true. Though the "main body" of the lake is rather shallow, there are 2 spots "upstream" and "downstream" that drop to 20'-30' depths. For Bass I've done well on the edges of those two drops.

You talking the channel at the bridges, or did you stumble upon some nice holes? I always hear bass love the structure at the bridges, but have only caught/seen perch around them there.

Yes its a club tournament, (Sorry to the local guy's for taking up your fishing area) not sure if it will be a big turnout. I agree, when I'm fun fishing and get to lake and see a tourn. on it, I will usually head to another place.

Thanks for the heads up Rich. I look up the clubs that I know of at the beginning of Spring and mark my phone calendar when they're having a tourney at the different lakes I frequent. If I can knowingly avoid the extra traffic and commotion, I will. We are blessed with plenty of options when it comes to which water body to fish.

Good luck in the tourney, man. If you get a chance, please post and let us know how you did.
