Electric Reel Battery
Has anyone tried Lithium Ion 12V batteries for electric reels? If so, what is the mAh rating?

Lasted the entire day for me, but if you are on a multi-day trip, might want to go larger or pick up additional packs. Either way, was way cheaper than what Daiwa had available at the time. |

Re: Electric Reel Battery
I have been using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Batteries to power my electric reels for the past 4 years. I have found the 15 amp model made by bioennopower.com to be the most reliable. Expect to pay about $170 which includes the required charger. This battery runs my Daiwa 500 series all day and my smaller Shimano 1000 for a few days between charges. Be aware that a lot of manufacturers use lead acid equivalent ratings which are lower in capacity. Bioenno ratings are accurate. I have also been experimenting with LIPO cells from China from Banggood.com. They sell 14.4 volt batteries which give the reels a little more speed but I have started to notice some swelling of the packs due to summer heating. LIPO explosions are not a good thing so I keep them in the explosion proof charging bags. They also require a balancing charger to equalize the cells voltage. Hope this helps.
