rockaway gorge smallmouths

i hit the rockaway river gorge for some smallmouth after a really hot day at work.wanted to let traffic die down some, so i hit the river with my trusty jig that i always use and caught 4 smallmouths. a 6" a 7.5" and two 11"ers they were behind the big rocks in the deeper water they wanted it a little slower than normal today. spent a hour and a half fishing then headed home. the water was clear and running at about normal speed

I grew up in Boonton Twp. I use to fish the Rockaway River a lot. I would especially fish the basin in Boonton. I would always get a few nice Smallies. At that time no one fished it for smallmouth. Glad you enjoyed it on your way home from work. I don't know if I would be able to climb down those rock cliffs anymore.
