Teetertown Ravine in the Rain
2 Attachment(s)
Hey all!
My days off are Monday and Tuesday, and I'm working for my grandpa on Tuesday, so I decided to go out for some fishing despite the bad weather. I knew no one would be at the Teetertown Pond today, A) because its Monday and B) because it was pouring rain. I got all rigged up at the car and walked out to the pond with one rod and a small tackle box. Right away I knew I'd be catching something because fish were jumping out of the water all over the place. Tried my luck with some crank baits but there was no luck to be had. About an hour in, I switched to the same spinner I've been catching fish on all year. That spinner did the trick again! Two small bass within 5 minutes of switching. Seems like there's a lot of small ones in there. Friends of mine had went up there recently and the fish I caught looked exactly like the ones they caught, same color and size. I didn't see any trout in there today, maybe the regulars have taken them all out already. If you ever get the chance to make a trip out there I highly suggest it! Beautiful pond with lots of hiking trails. I went home happy and soaking wet, can't wait to get back there. Tight lines to all! :D |

Always loved fishing in the rain (even thought about it today but too much on my todo list), especially topwater.

Re: Teetertown Ravine in the Rain
Three things that tend to keep fisherman home - cold, wind and rain. Popular spots on nice sunny skies are packed; on showery, breezy and/or cool days you hardly see anybody.
Drizzle/light showers are perfect. Its just enough to keep most folks home - not just anglers, but recreational boaters, hikers, dog walkers, etc. You get places to yourself which is always a plus. Only issue is keeping your reel from losing valuable oil as it gets soaked. Haven't figured out yet a good way to do that (reel umbrella?)other than keeping the reel close to my body as I reel it in. Good idea to keep some reel lube in your car just in case. |
