good mixed bag on the cong

i had a good weekend of fishing out on the cong i got a bunch of cookie cutter size crappies ranging from 6" to 12" 5 white perch the biggest one was 10" 1 slime dart and 4 sunnies. switched to jerk baits at dusk for wallys but did not get any this time.met up with capt ed to see if we could get any eyes by brady bridge after the sun went down ,he managed to get 2 walleyes and 1 bullhead catfish.we called it the nite after 9:00pm.also ran into henro and had some good crappie action for a short time in the afternoon. jig-n-bobber was still the lure of choice. the weeds are growing fast, you have to pick and choose your spots to find the crappies.

Good to meet you today! We ended up catching 40 or so crappie. Most were smaller. I think they will be done soon as well, especially with the weeds filling in. We caught 6 bullheads and a nice 22-24" eye at dusk as well.

just want to say thanks to Dr Badger for his outstanding hook removal from my hand.left the head light and my specs home as i headed up the lake for some
after dark fishing.as i am removing the hooks from a nice eye it decides to give one of those big head shakes and sends the back hook of the plug into my hand.
now i am standing there with the plug in my hand and the fish still attached.Badger was right out in front me and came to give me a hand.eye was released unharmed and the hook removed as well.thanks again Dr Badger i will await your bill in the mail.

Dr Dale aboard the GetANet II performed open water hook removal surgery on me a season or two ago. A hybrid on spruce did the same thing to me. We went with the heavy mono loop around the hook shank to remove it after we cut the hook from the fishs mouth. It was an exciting 3-5 minutes! Kept fishing afterwards too!

sounds like a good time. i was out on the big lake thurs and found that the fish had already moved out of some of the spots they had been in a couple days earlier. saw water temps over 63° in the back coves, 55° around the main lake.

knowing how to do a hook removal is definitely a very handy thing for any fisherman. the line loop technique for getting the hook out is far superior to the old-school pull it all the way through and cut off the barb technique. i've had to help out a couple guys out on the water myself and hopefully when it's my turn to be the pincushion again, somebody will be around to give me a hand. it really is almost painless with the loop pull!

probably anybody who fishes with other people (especially kids!) should learn this. here's a decent video showing how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNvWououyp4
