slow weekend on the cong

saturday was a blow out with 20 mph winds so needless to say fishing was not so good.sunday was a little better, the winds calmed down a bit but the fish still did not want to play. olny caught 6 crappies ranging from 9" to 14", 3 slime darts,1 lake hopatcong tarpon and 1 chunky perch. most fish were caught on a blakemore roadrunner the others were caught on jig-n-bobber. the fish were deep today in 6' of water and were about 6" above the weeds it was hard to catch them. the water temp was 44 to 47 depending on where you were. hopefully things will change when it warms up a bit

sunday was a madhouse....couldn't believe the number of fishing vessels out on the water....got out in the early afternoon figuring the sun would warm the water up....target was trout and panfish.....got 3 quick fish including a wicked tiny stockie and the wife got a nice 13" crappie..spent the next 2 hours without a sniff...made a move to the skinny back water and found a slow pick of tiny male perch, small crappie, and monster bluegill on trout magnets.....main lake was 45 with the back water around 52....

I got out yesterday afternoon and had a decent pick at the crappie. Had a little reunion of old Simon Peter crew as I fished with Tommy and Jake. I got there at 1pm but didn't get on the lake till 2 as I somehow got a flat on the trailer. I must've caught something in the state parking lot because the tire went out quick and luckily a couple walking by told me as I was backing into the ramp! We caught probably 50-60 crappie but most were small. We finished with 22 keepers over 10" with 2 big fish at 13" & 13.5". All fish were on the jig and bobber and black/chartreuse was the ticket again.

Glad to hear someone found them!

Sucks about the tire but luckily you weren't on the highway when it went.

Yeah exactly timing was very fortunate. I finally got to use the ARB compressor in my truck too that I have for my rear locker lol.
