Jigs for trout:

To this day I am still amazed at the fish I catch with jigs. Think of saltwater and what can be caught on jigs- tuna, pollock, weakfish, stripahs, fluke and so on.
An experienced fly fisherman handed me a jig one day and it has been a game changer ! I am such a hack with lures but found a lure that is easy to use and inexpensive. You can then start to work with colors, head sizes, shapes, and weights. Football head, glider head, spoon head, you name it.
I feel like I can conquer the world with a 3/32 black marabou jig with a #6 hook, yes #6. Seems like a large hook, but for some reason it's not.
The jigs go where the fish are, just cruising off the bottom.
I can work jigs through slow pockets, deep holes, fast water, you name it.

JIGS WORK !!!

Agreed..that's why they used to put a buck tail jig in a survival kit.

I have caught them with jigs but I like spinner fishing better.

I've been nailing the majority of my fish on 1/32 and 1/16 ounce crappie tubes. You suggest hair jigs?

I like the action on the marabou. I also like the fact they are single hook, so if you are into C&R you don't have to tear the face off the fish to remove your lure.
The feather jigs in combinations of colors with marabou and or flash can be the ticket. Color pattern, flash, head shape, weight, hook size.
