Anywhere in nj that I can buy shiners this time of year?
I'd like to spend some time on the RV shoreline...
or any other bait suggestions - I'm a fresh water novice.

I got them from behrs tackle shop, on 22 but going east.

Definitely gotta go see James at Behre bait! It's the only place to go for RV fishing info! He'll tell what's working and all the good stuff! About 1 mile east of RV on the eastbound side of rt 22! Good luck dude!

As others mentioned Behre is not far from RV and the place to go. You can also try Power Baits. Chartreuse "marshmallow" Power Bait can be effective fished off the bottom on a slip sinker.

What catching now at RV from shore, stocked trout or Lakers as well ?

When the water is cold you can catch anything at any depth. Last weekend while ice fishing in ny we were catching perch in 70fow while I heard of a big laker caught in 10fow by a guy perch fishing. Lakers are definitely a possibility from the shore right now at round Valley
