Ocean fishing near San Diego Sorry guys, this is not a report. I am seeking tips/recommendation for fishing near San Diego. Will be there for family vacation between Christmas and New Year, and want to take a day fishing the local water or in Mexico. Anyone good ideas? Thanks! Rusty hook |

Re: Ocean fishing near San Diego there are many open Party Boats sailing out of San Diego Harbor, located close to the airport. L & H, Point Loma and a 3rd one are all in a row. Check the fish counts a few days before to see targeted species. I fished there in Aug for Yellowtail and had great trip on the Islander. Make sure to bring your passport! it is required to fish Mexican waters. Hope this helps |

Re: Ocean fishing near San Diego 2 Attachment(s) Was there two years a go and didn't have the time to go on a tuna trip but got on the "Daily Double" from Point Loma. Had a great time catching brown bass and barracuda. Nice boat and nice operation, a little different than NJ.... they fish w live bait, no road holder and no fish coolers on the boat (they use burlap sack). |

Re: Ocean fishing near San Diego Thanks guys for the advice! Do the party boats have decent tackle or should I bring my own? Rusty hook. |

Re: Ocean fishing near San Diego I fished on the Mission Belle at the Point Loma Fishing Basin. It's a small head boat with a top notch captain. Fairly priced. When I fished with them his mate was from N.J. He told me I had chosen the best boat in the area. We sailed and fished in Mexican waters. I had a very pleasant and interesting day using live pilchards (?) for bait. Check out their website. You need a passport, $145, for the 12 hour daily trip. |

Re: Ocean fishing near San Diego H & M Landing out on Point Loma is the place. Many boats from local fishing to 10 day offshore. Great tackle shop as well |
