Can you convert a conventional rod into a spinning rod by just changing the eyes?????

Don't know a whole lot, but apparently every rod has a Spine. So in order to take a rod and convert it you would need to find it by rolling it on the ground or so, then positioning the guides either ontop or on the reverse side of that said spine. :confused:

Some rod blanks are used for both spinning and conventional and depending on what action your are looking for, the tips or butt sections are cut to give them the desired action.

It can be done but it is a lot of work. On a spinning rod the guides go on the opposite side of the blank from the spline, where as on a conventional setup the guides go on top of the spline. So if you were to strip the rod down to just the grips and reel seat, the reel seat would still be setup where the guides would be for a conventional reel. There are ways to remove the reel seat, but it can be quite difficult and you run the risk of damaging the blank in the process. If you are having a rod builder try and do this for you, I would recommend you just have a new rod built instead. It would be more cost effective in the long run. Now if you're doing it yourself, by all means have at it, but remember the possibility of destroying it is always there.

Most spin rods have one or two less guides on them compared to conventionals. You can put new guides where the old guides were, and you might have a few flat spots that really wont hurt anything. so yes it can be done. If you want to add guides, then the placement is different. You will then see rough spots where the old guides were. To have it done professionally it would cost more than the rod is worth.
