Long island shark fishing

Left my boat tied up to the slip and headed out east to fish off my uncles boat this weekend. We headed out of Moriches bay and hit "the fingers" . Great day, good weather, hooked up to a nice fish and after 15 minutes the hook pulled. It's stressing me out bad! That was it for the day. All in all I wasn't impressed with this location that much and was wondering if anyone here has fished that area, looking for some different options within 30 miles if possible....

Your right keep the reports coming it's just that there are not too many people who like to shark fish anymore. I like reading a different type of report I'm sure your careful in releasing your catch of unwanted sharks. Catching a thresher or Mako can be a lot fun. I came from NY & fished those areas the problem is the water is too cold for this time of the year. June used to be a great month but now it seems to be more like late July or early August. Just read the reports from the ocean Flukers they all have the same complaints the ocean waters are too cold. I fished some of the wrecks like the Yankee, Hilton High castle & the Coimbra nearby there. Also the Virginia is another area as well. Also ask the shops where your buying your bait from it's no big secret anymore. They are a world of information for warm water drift lines & where you should fish the day your going. The area you fished is a productive area but maybe that day it was not for some reason. It could have been due to the wind direction or the thaermocline for that area because of it.
