Pike, smallie and big crappie - 6/22
3 Attachment(s)
Hit the P after work and fished from 5:45 - 8ish. Same old story first hour or so - no swipes or hits or anything. Finally got a good swipe near a large deadfall. Repeated casts drew no more attention. I eventually had enough and switched to a small grub. A large, slow bend in the river gave up 4 yellow perch, 2 lmb, a few bluegills, a smallmouth and 2 crappie one of which was a 13". On the long trek back thru the jungle, I stopped and caught a small pike. Not bad but pike actio is still painfully slow at least where I'm going.
There were bootprints and evidence of a kayak. Looked like someone was stopping along the shore here and there and fishing from shore at spots where the bank wasn't 10 feet high. Prints were fairly fresh too. I think JDTuna has invaded my territory. Time to call the banners and come to the aid of House Buzzbaiter. Release the ravens! :) If anyone wants some extra cash, I'll pay somebody to machete a path along the river for me. Weeds are getting over my head. I swear one day I'm going to step into uprooted tree root hole hidden by weeds and they'll never find me. |

I also fished the Passaic yesterday with almost identical catch results. If you fond someone willing to blaze a trail send his name to me- I am tired of trailblazing as well.

I wish I had it in me to do a few trips throwing only smaller stuff on the river. I get a decent amount of Perch, Crappie, etc. on stuff meant for Pike, I could only imagine how well I'd do throwing something more appropriate. Nice mixed bag and nice report.
