Pickerel-athon continues...

Hit two small, state park lakes today totaling around 50 pickerel or so. This was the 5th trip of over 50 pickerel in the last few weeks as they are in feeding mode. Managed a few nice bass as well. Mostly tossed around buzzbait.

This 18" struck next to a beaver lodge which are always prime bass areas this time of year:

This 18" struck next to a log just as my buzzbait climbed over it:

One interesting catch was a 14" pickerel with a 12" wire leader hanging out of its mouth. Hook was way down in its gullet so no retrieving that so I snipped the wire leader as close to the hook as I could. Hopefully it will be okay.

I think it's great that you're on a mission to catch every single pickerel in north Jersey. You should be about 2/3 of the way there by now. :D

My window is closing for the pickerel. Pads are up, water lilies are coming up with water shield & spatterdock soon to follow. I figure about 2/3 more weeks before some ponds are completely choked off. Even the best weedless lure ain't penetrating that stuff.

Nice bass i catch them on buzz baits also a lot. It's an epic feeling when they crush one! And got my share of slime darts on that lure to :)
