Shad and more shad
 

hit the big d yesterday at 6am and had my first shad at 6:30.the next one is
7am and from then till 10am it was none stop.it seemed like every cast you hooked one or lost one.dark green/chartreus and pink/white darts were the colors I was using.had just re-spooled my reels the nite before with 4lb test and had to change it when I got home. the line was just destroyed.most were bucks but had a few nice roes also.all fished were released unharmed.steady reel is what they wanted.river was perfect,clear and clean.looking forward to getting back at them soon.

A group of us fished North of the Gap on Saturday from 1-8. Slow day. I went 4 for 6 with a ton of bumps on flutter spoons. Broke my 10' noodle rod while foolishly trying to net a monster roe (~5#). BOO!

Wifey landed 4 on darts and father in law got a couple on C-rigged crappie jigs.

Had a ton of followers and you could see them chasing each other around in pods of 5-10 fish. Water is gin clear. It is going to break loose this week with warming water temps.

If you are in the area give it a shot. It is an amazing fight.

All fish released to hopefully create the next generation.

We fished below where you were from a boat and it was SLOW very slow. Spoke to some guys that said the couple of days ago were really good but yesterday they weren't moving through. It seems we were in between the runs to the south and the run that moved through. Oh well just my luck !

Good for you on an epic day hopefully they keep moving up.

Yes sir! The silver bullets of the "D" are moving around quite nicely! Glad you found a nice pod to play with! Way to go buddy! Still plenty of time left to get that Shad fix!:D
