Haven't event heard about a single winter flounder this month

I know bass fishing is good, and it's a 2 fish limit on flounder. But..still haven't heard a thing or a single report even mentioning a single flounder.

Anyone? Anything?

I have a friend who has been hitting them good, but I am not sure which side of canal he has been working. Limits for him and his son every trip though.

We did a good job bringing stripers back from extinction. Its time to do the same for winter flounder.

Everyone I know that has tried has had no problem catching them. Then when they move out into deepwater, I will catch 3-8 per day as bycatch while ling fishing.

I went out twice in the Shrewsbury and Neversink - got skunked despite pulling out all the stops on perfect days with perfect outgoing tide.

There is a new report that says the winter flounder no longer spawn in the rivers - they stay in the deep because that is the only way they escape the nets.

That is remarkably sad if true. Was at Marine Park red bank this past mid March and that was always an early season hot spot in the early to mid 80s.
