Wild Trout Sat (4/2/16)
I had plans take the kayak out on Sat, but I woke up early to a steady rain so I decided to change my plans and head out in search of some wild browns. Hit a small Creek and found super aggressive browns more than willing to cooperate. Each pool had multiple fish chasing the lures in the clear water. Definitely a great hour or so on the creek.

Gotta love those wild browns! I don't know where they got the reputation for being fussy, sometimes I can't keep them off my lure! Nice catching!

Yeah growing up I was always reading how hard and intelligent wild trout were. I can't think of a fish easier to catch than a wild brown trout on a spinner. It almost gets too easy at times. Same goes for wild bows. Brookies are a little tougher but still easily fooled. Bigger(i.e. trophy) trout(>=15") are harder to fool but they also represent only about 1-3% of the overall population. It may not be they are smarter just aren't that many around. |
