A good week of fishing in Union County!
5 Attachment(s)
Since my usual local spots are all off-limits until opening day I decided to branch out to some spots I wouldn't normally fish and ended up having better luck at these "new" spots than at my go-to holes. Earlier this week I hooked a nice 2.5 lb LMB at the Reservoir and then last night snagged what I believe is a new PB (I only just started weighing fish I caught) 3.6 lb LMB also at the Reservoir. That lake skunked me all last year so this was a nice redemption early in the season. Besides those two I pulled a much smaller bass out of Lenape Park Pond (during the day for once) and also managed to hook a nice channel out of an undisclosed location in Cranford. The 2.5 lb bass caught on a 5" purple curly tail worm texas rigged with a bullet sinker. The 3.6 lb LMB was caught on a black/blue 3/8 oz jig with zoom chunk trailer. The cat was surprisingly caught using trout power bait (it was all I had).
The PB last night was particularly sweet since I caught it on my new rig also purchased yesterday - Pflueger President (size 30) reel and a Fenwick Eagle (6.5 ft., medium-light/moderate-fast). I am in love with both the rod and reel, together they make a really sensitive set-up, great for jigs/worms/plastics. |

Awesome bass. Looks like you're doing great considering cold water and high pressure urban fishing conditions. , |

Way to go man! Keep fishing our local waters! Plenty of Bass to go around, trust me! I fish the same places as you when I'm pressed for time! There are some serious hogs in certain UC waters! Congrats on the PB! :D
