Kayaker rescued from mud...
He's lucky he was in an area where someone saw him.

That is some serious mud. To think someone could get killed by it. And I bet the guy doesn't even feel embarrassed about the photo, since he got out OK.

He would have had to hold onto the kayak, and essentially 'walk out' on his knees or shins, bent at 90 degrees.
We do it frequently while duck hunting in the Brigantine mud. The Hackensack is bad too, The trick is always keep the kayak or layout sled in our case in reach. Dave |

Re: Kayaker rescued from mud...
Geez,.......a week or so ago an angler contacted me about kayak fishing in Overpeck Creek......
Way back, when I first started working @ The Lebanon Fish Lab, we went to New Brunswick to salvage fish from the D&R Canal near the Albany St. Bridge. They were de-watering it & planning to fill it in for the construction of Route 18. One guy (“a know-it-all “) boldly strode down to the water in his waders, and promptly sunk into the mud up to his armpits! Lucky for him, an on-site crane lowered a sling & yanked him out. |
