PA Wild brown trout and more 3/12-3/13, 2016

This weekend I joined a few of my friends on a trip to fish for wild trout in central Pennsylvania. My friends are experts in the art of flyfishing for trout, and though I was spin fishing I knew I would learn quite a bit on the trip.

I started out fishing with pins minnows and spinners which accounted for a couple of fish. However, I quickly switched over to nymphing when my friend demonstrated the effectiveness of the technique. We ended up fishing all day Saturday in absolutely beautiful weather. Everyone caught fish, and i ended the day with 6 wild brown trout and a feisty little rainbow. With the long drive home and rainy weather, we only fished a few hours on Sunday. Everyone caught fish and I tallied another beautiful wild brown and a monster fallfish that was easily 2 to 3lbs. All in all it was a fantastic trip. Not only were the wild browns flawless, but they fought very hard on ultralight tackle. Here are some pics:

Fallfish are terrific fighters...for about 2 seconds. lol. I've caught a few in the Delaware upwards 15-16". Even at that size, they still don't fight very well. I find it odd that a fish that fights the river current all it's life can be so weak. Smallies - which occupy the same feeding lanes - are the opposite: great fighters. Even the 4-5" little guys will not give up.

Beautiful fish man.

So much action going on in every body of water. I am having a real tough time concentrating on anything not fishing related. signs of addiction perhaps?
