Opan-fishing Weekend
FINALLY got the boat on the water this weekend!
I spent way too many hours summerizing it and installing the new fish finder. What a major pia basically had to take half the boat apart to run the cables. Got a late start on Saturday and took the wifey out targeting panfish in the shallows. For once she didn't out fish me! We landed ~10 crappie, 15 perch, and a bonus lmb. The jumbo perch showed up at sundown and were extremely aggressive. Left them biting due to dinner obligations. On Sunday went out with the brother-in-law targeting bigger fish but the main lake was just too cold (mid-low 40's). Decided to checkout some shallow water. Tied on the pan fish gear and it was lights out for hours. We were in a cove with 3 other boats that formed a corralling circle around a monster school of crappie. The crappie were insanely aggressive and you would catch one on just about every other cast. You could see the flash as they hit the lures. There must have been over 200 fish caught among the boats. I have never specifically targeted crappie but will certainly be back again. Good times! All fished released for others to enjoy. http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...psyqs0qbyd.jpg http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...psjhfnlfha.jpg http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...psnwpdhulv.jpg http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...pscfzuvaif.jpg |

nice fish. The warmest waters were NOT where the biggest fish were this weekend.
