Avet Reel

My brother has a MJ and a LX Avet reel I have a half dozen Shimano Trevala rods these reels do not fit on the trevala reel seat. I thought it was just the SX and MX models. So I go to the Avet site and this is what I got from it.
My SX foot won’t fit my graphite trigger reel seat, what do I do?

All SX, MXJ and MXL models now ship with a modified foot designed to fit 99% of the trigger style graphite reel seats currently on the market. The Avet trigger seat foot is rounded (like a duck bill) on one end (the end that will fit into the rear pocket on the graphite seat), and squared off on the other end. The easiest way to tell if your reel has the trigger seat foot or not, is if each end of the foot is identical, you have a standard foot. If each end is a different shape (one end rounded, the other square), you have a trigger seat foot.

The trigger seat foot is ONLY available for SX, MXJ and MXL series reels. The larger reels (JX-HX series) put out too much drag for the thin, shallow rear pocket on a graphite uni-body style trigger seat, and will eventually pull out of the reel seat under load. The reel will then proceed down your rod at a high rate of speed, breaking off each guide before splashing into the water. This is why we do not offer trigger seat feet for these larger models. Are they kidding me I can fish these rods with Penn reels and shimano reels with more drag and no problems. Also wouldn't the rod clamp prevent the reel from moving?

I used a Dremil and file to grind the foot down on mine,I know you shouldn't have to do that

I had the reel seat problem on a older SX. Now I use a MX and it fits all my rods. They made a change!

My older SX had a problem with Ugly Sticks so I ground it down . Newer Avets fit OK now.
