Spinning Reel Reccomendations
Looking for recommendations for a spinning reel for a friend. Going to be used primarily inshore for fluke, blues and stripers and an occasionally for pot hoping mahi.
Since we do a lot of live lining and occasionally dead stick for Fluke, I think the bait runner feature is a must. I've got a Shimano 8000D I like and fished a few times with the newer Penn Spinfishers too, which were nice. I have a few of the older Shimano 3500 and 4500 bait runners that seemed to always need repair. Thoughts, opinions?? |

What's a bait runner?

Re: Spinning Reel Reccomendations
Gerry I would recommend the Shimano Baitrunner 8000D. It is strong and reliable. Btw, we can fix your older Baitrunners.

I got the Shimano Thunnus 6000 back in the Spring and it worked great all year for Snag/Drop and livelining some nice bass.... good solid reel :)

Re: Spinning Reel Reccomendations
The bait runner feature is nice. I pretty much will not get a spinner without it...Charlie
