CatFISH, LEAVES RePORT! 11/5
Hit the river this afternoon with jigging being the main focus on my mind. No friggin bueno on the great big river. It was a leaf or 3 a cast for most of the day no matter what I was throwing. Single hooks, treble hook jigs all came back with garbage pretty much every cast. Thankfully I bought some Shiners from the bait shop or I would've been really pissed off after todays adventure.
Set up some bottom rigs and slip bobber rigs for the day. The bottom rigs with the double Shiner special did all the damage this afternoon with 3 Channels and 2 Flatheads coming to the banks. 2 Channels were extra small 10-12 inch morsels that looked like tasty little hoagies. I'd fry them up whole entrails and all. The biggest Channel went around 21 inches and 5lbs. He was a fun fight on light gear. Next up were the Flatheads. Managed to land 2 in 15 minutes or so with the biggest one being 6lbs and the other around the same. they were fighting like it was there last days in the water. I don't know if it was the gloomy weather or constant drizzle but the Cats were out of there minds this afternoon. Good times! Nothing on the slip bobber rig today surprisingly. Usually do well with the Smallies and Eyes that way this time of year. Oh well, I'll be back for those species. Did manage one short Walleye, Sauger, Saugeye on the Silver Binsky. He had some AWESOME colors so I took a pic of the cute lil guy. All in all a fun short session on the river. P.S. The leaves are just about done in W, NW NJ so jigging time on the river is finally here. We just need a storm or something to wash all the crap away. YEA BUDDY!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D EPIC RIVER PIC!!! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pspqdbbrk3.jpg CUTE WALLEYE!!! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pswzjmq6cn.jpg TASTY MORSEL!!! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psatnkv7lu.jpg 5LB CHANNEL http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3oxygmvc.jpg INVASIVE FLATHEADS!!! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...psxgnkgzzp.jpg http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3hbtdmaj.jpg |

I think the white spot on bottom of the tail gives it away as a walleye. Flatheads...hey do they like silver surfer flies?
Nice catching bro! |

Awesome report. The leaves make fall fishing a drag. Gotta catch some fish before they start to drop and also after they are off the water :D
Cool cats as always! |

.
Eddie, you are amazing. There is a lot of debris in the river now. Last time I fished there, the river had tons of aquatic grass leaves floating down river. Any line in the water was like a magnet for this crap. . |
