Big D Smallies
On Saturday my dad and I fished with our guide on the Big D in the hopes of bagging some trout. Well, to put it mildly, conditions were not ideal. With rains in the forecast the NYCDEP shut down the flow from Cannonsville, leaving the West Branch and the Upper D as a trickle. Launched way down river at Callicoon, and floated to Damascus. Besides a few fallfish and one lone walleye, smallmouths were the only ones cooperating. Most fish came on deep diving cranks worked slow in deep pools. Biggest was about 15". Couldn't land A SINGLE TROUT!

Releases on the West Branch are all over the place, looks like they are releasing now. Never floated that lower section before. Thanx for the video.

Re: Big D Smallies
If you were a week earlier , you would have had more water than you ld know what to do with....Hale eddy was at 1500 last week to meet montagues needs...Just like with the salmon guys, timing is everything:cool:
