Day one:Hit the Roscoe diner @6am for some chow on Wednesday then it was off to the Beaverkill. What a shame, practically all dried up. Scratched out about 5 trout, bows and browns, biggest was about a 14" bow. One small brown had talon marks on it, I guess the birds are having a field day. Blew through there in about 2 hours and hit a spot on the East Branch, depressing to say the least, got one SMB. Over to the West Branch in Deposit. I was eager to check on conditions since I had a float trip planned for the next day. A big release was taking place from Cannonsville so the water was very high, and cold, good. Bad was the very off, almost muddy look to the water, that combined with lots of algae. Decided to give it my best and was rewarded with 3 chunky browns from the no kill stretch in Deposit. Bounced between Hancock and Deposit the rest of the day and never got another fish.
Day two: Splashed the boat on the West Branch in Deposit with my guide at 7am. Didn't take long to get us on the board. Hooked lots of fish, rolled some REALLY big browns and landed a bunch too, including a nice 19"er. Dense fog and low light made for some great conditions in the morning, all that changed later in the day when the bright sun, no wind and cloudless skies took over, fishing shut down. Off the water in Hancock by 2pm. Due to go back up in 2 weeks (weather permitting) Oh, and found one tire in Hancock :)
