Barnegat Bay Weakfish 9-9-15

Set out at 7am with Larry Newman & a box of grass shrimp. Started chumming & had Weakfish within 2 minutes. Started off with a good bite, then slowed down a bit. Ended up with 15 Weakfish - about 1/2 were keeper size and 10 nice fluke - 3 of which were keeper size. All in all a good day. Good job, Larry!

Great report. Not sure what happened to the weakfish other than the fact that they got pounded by commercial netters in Delaware Bay and continued to get pounded after the spawn. Would love to see them come back to the days when 10 to 15lb fish were quite common. Another trophy fish which was destroyed by greed and over fishing.

Do not forget all the gill nets outside BI, and the tractor trailers leaving Waretown filled with the spawning females in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's
