Raritan River 8/16/15
 

Fished just downstream of the dam at Duke Island Park. The smallmouth and sunfish were very active today, and were eagerly chasing the live crayfish I was using as bait. Saw another kid catch a decent catfish at the base of the dam.

I came here per the suggestion of the man at Efinger's who sold me the crayfish. I liked how rocky it was. It must be a fun place to fish for stocked trout in the spring, and whatever else can be found at the base of the dam.

Nice. The water must be terribly low.

We seriously need some more rain.

Bigger hole well below the dam I'm sure holds some big fish. Cool pics !

Sounds like a fun day on the BIG R! Theres some great water downstream without a doubt. Nows the time to get the old sneakers on and take a long walk.

You bought crayfish to fish the Raritan? You got ripped off, there is a crayfish under nearly every rock in that river! :D

I'd imagine fishing down there at this water level was no easy task. Like was mentioned above, we need some rain!
