Reel Service HELP!!!

I have a Shimano Saros 3500/4000 whatever the numbers are. I seem to have fried the bearings and the bail spring is shot. I'm in Union County. Is there anywhere in NJ that can service this reel quickly. I use it for a bunch of different things and would like to get it back in working order ASAP!

Any help is appreciated! Thanx in advance guys!

Shimano American Corporation
One Holland Drive
Irvine, CA 92618, U.S.A.
Telephone: (949) 951-5003

Sending it to shimano is quicker than having it fixed locally, they have all the parts and it will be done right. option 2, buy a new one and get this one repaired and save it as a spare. good Luck!

Thanx Birddog!!! I'll look into what the shipping rates are to get the reel out there!

Re: Reel Service HELP!!!

$25 to repair a spinning reel plus shipping for shimanos.

Did the reel seize up and get stuck or does it work briefly and then start grinding and sticking after some use? I've have the latter happen to 2 of mine recently. A Sedona and a Sahara. I learned that most shimano spinning reels from below the stradic and down the line need a lube job/greasing right off the bat. My reels were seemingly bone dry to where the grease turned into something comparable to an adhesive which caused the grinding/sticking I was experiencing.

Just about any new reel needs a pre-service, if you expect the reel to last. Greasing of internal part to protect them from corrosion is something that manufactures do haphazardly, at best.

X2 on Shimano - Almost all my reels are Shimano and the ones I use most I rotate sending them back for cleaning and service every few years. They do a great job and never once have I had them charge me for any of the parts they replace.

The one thing to note is timing - call Shimano customer service and find out what the current turn-time is on repairs. Depending on season, it can be awhile.

At this link they have a list of reels they still service / have all parts for:

I also second giving Dave at Reel Seat a call - great shop with great guys and great service.

Dude, just give it to NJFishing.com's own MrAC1980....No shipping, no BS and it will come back better than any service dept out there.

^I swear I didn't pay him to say that!! :D:p:D
I'm in Bergen County and Ocean County. Gladly take a look and have most reels turned around within a week or two.

I agree most reels need some work right out of the box, its unfortunate but true. I just serviced two older Stradic FH reels. Had to measure the bearings and order them from a local supplier. Guy had the reels back fishing in 8 days!
