Keyport Seahawk - dogfish bonanza

probably the worst fluke report I've given in 2 years...

Sunday we tried as usual different drifts, depths, spots etc. different lures colors baits etc. we just could not buy a good bite. Dogfish everywhere! Nothing but dogs! Bay, ocean, shallow, deep didn't matter!

When we would find fluke they were biting like they didn't really want to eat. We probably had over a dozen fish each go on and off instantly. We would set the hook and the fish would pop off within a second. And the few fluke we did catch were mostly lip skin hooked. I tried quick set, delayed set, drop back set, slow lift set...nothing did the job.

We saw schools of rays winging the surface and huge stripers jumping clear out of the water for apparently no reason, they definitely weren't feeding cause we sat there wasting time fishing for them too haha. Also saw a whale come up in front of us just outside the bay.

Ended the day with just 6 fluke each and thankfully john's last minute 18" keeper!
