Re: Seabass advice
Sea bassing is a lot of fun! It is one of our favorite kinds of fishing. So keep in mind sea bass move in to shallows from the deeper offshore grounds in the Spring - that being said - this time of the year we start deeper (90-110 feet) and work our way into the shallower water (60-75). Keep an eye on water temperature - and remember that it may be colder on the bottom than what your surface reading is. Learn to anchor effectively, if you stay over productive bottom structure it will help your game! Also, get a NJ Artificial Reefs book - last I checked it's actually FREE on NJ DEP Fish & Game website - to give you a bunch of spots so you don't limit yourself on where to fish. We did a short video a few years ago for The Fisherman magazine on sea bassing basics and secrets - it's probably still on their website - I know seabassing is not the most complicated kind of fishing but we can all use some extra tricks! Good luck and have fun!
