Somerset County trout tour
Decided to visit my old stomping grounds in search of trout. First I hit up Natirar in search of wild browns. I only managed one small one, on a fly rod, of all things! Next I made a quick stop at Peapack Brook to check my favorite honey hole. Sure enough, a net full of fish was waiting for me, and I landed about a dozen bows in 15 minutes on a white grub. Then I swung by Duke Island Park to fish the rapids. I managed four there in about an hour, all on the old reliable Mepps #2 silver.
I got footage of everything, so expect a trout fishing triple feature soon. But not until tomorrow; now it's time for eggplant rollatini and a good scotch. |

Re: Somerset County trout tour
Another fine job on the video! You had some great catching on some very beautiful waters. Trout streams are full of fish and not many anglers on them. Good stuff!!!:D

Re: Somerset County trout tour
Lard, the fly in the first video appears to be an elk hair caddis. The body appears to be either brown or tan. They are hatching all over CNJ right now. Try a Hendrickson as well. You can tie on a caddis pupa as a dropper off of that dry. Good luck brother, can't wait to see more videos!
