The results of the 2014 Delaware River Seine Survey

The results of the 2014 Delaware River Seine Survey, including 89 updated species fact sheets, have been posted by the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife. The division monitors populations of juvenile fish found in the Delaware River's estuary to provide a means to predict population trends and future harvest potential of monitored species.

To view the article, visit http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/artdelstudy15.htm on the Division's website.

Looks like there's some issues on the D when it comes to numbers. Glad to see the Striper numbers up but man that Menhaden number is super low. Plenty of other bait options for our Striped friends.

Very interesting. I guess since the samples were all taken in the estuary, many of the typical Delaware River gamefish like Smallmouth Bass and Walleye are under-represented by the seine catch results.

Good Info....Thanks for sharing that bud. It is definitely interesting in some of those year over year changes in numbers. Huge swings in some of those bait fish if everything else was kept relativley equal.

“It began in 1980 when striped bass stocks were severely depleted and is primarily a juvenile striped bass abundance survey.”

Striped bass spawn in tidal freshwater, so the seining stations are from Trenton downstream to the Bay.

But, of course, they count everything they catch, not just striped bass.
