Fillet Knife Reccomendation
I am looking for recommendations on a good fillet knife for trout and panfish and the occasional smb that gets hooked bad and wont revive.
Should I go with a 5", 6", 7", 8"? I read good things about dexter-russell and rapalas. Also any recommendations on a sharpener? Accusharp 001 (knife) or 010 (fillet)? http://www.accusharp.com/products/index.html Thanks NJSquatch |
Re: Fillet Knife Reccomendation
Can't really beat the wood handled dexter for holding an edge, but I just saw the whole line of Bubba blades including the Chef knife for the kitchen, ohhhh boy I said... Coming soon. As far as sharpeners, ughhh don't get me started, other than stones, most work good to a point, some longer than others, I'm going to try the new electric one that's out and I'll get back to ya...

For smaller fish, a shorter blade would suffice. The 6" would prob be enough. Can't beat this knife though... |

I'm a big fan of my Dexter. It's gotta be 15 years old by now. A few swipes on a sharpener once in a while keeps it razor sharp.

Re: Fillet Knife Reccomendation
I use my Henckels boning knife.. It looks to be about 6 inches.
As far as sharpeners it's hard to beat Chef's Choice. It makes a perfect edge. Chefs Choice has several models but my 100 model with 3 sharpening stages works very well |
