Nice 20" largie and friends - 10/18
8 Attachment(s)
Hit a public reservoir that you can clearly see is really low because both dam repairs and little rain. Its down about 10-12' bringing the acreage down from 180 acres to about half that. Air temps in the upper 50's but water temps still fairly warm(64F) so fish were active and hungry. Got a nice mixed bag of panfish and predator fish all using a Panther Martin :). Big bass was a solid 20" just a hair over 4lbs and the only largemouth I got; Caught 9 smallies up to 14", 4 pickerel up to 18", Yellow Perch up to 12" and numerous bluegills.

That's awesome Buzzbaiter. Twenty inches is a great trophy for New Jersey. According to the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, that fish is over ten years old! What is the statistical probability of a bass living ten years in the country's most densely populated state? Definitely keep that location on the down low. https://www.fish.state.pa.us/pafish/...s_overview.htm . |

I die a little inside every time I hear stuff like that. But I am a bass catch-and-release zealot. It even bothers me when someone says something along the lines of, "I keep every bass I'm legally allowed to. If Fish & Game finds we don't have enough bass, they'll change the regulations.". I just shake my head and think, "Really, - you need Fish & Game to tell you when the fishing is ruined? You don't see the connection between the good bass fishing you're experiencing today and the majority of skilled bass fishermen that COULD turn this lake into a barren swimming pool, but they CHOOSE to release their catches because they want YOU to have the same opportunities they had to catch big bass?". . |
