Own a piece of the North Branch.

Got a junk email for this. Major $ I'm sure. On my wish list if I ever run into millions.

Wow - that's a beautiful piece of property. Parcels of land like that are usually bought by speculators who then sub-divide the land within an inch of its life or real-estate developers that turn it into sprawling developments of closely-spaced McMansions.

Maybe as a forum we can pool our money and purchase it. We can call it the NJFishing Estate.

wow, with a connection to patriot's path and the north branch, i would say that property would make a great addition to the state's green acres program. contact your legislators and suggest so!

Maybe we can get Andy to sell off some of those used tires he collects. That will get us a few bucks.

Re: Own a piece of the North Branch.

I saw this listing months ago. The land is already farmland preserved so the non-profits won't touch it since its already "saved". It also has a house/barn which they don't want to deal with either. Its up to Mendham Twp to do something but with funding sources dwinding, I wouldn't count on it. If they ever sub-divided and did not include the dwellings, it would easier to make it open space.

Below is a reply I got to this property back in march:

Quote:

If you are asking if NJCF would like to purchase this preserved farm and house with the possibility of managing the property for public access, that is a question I can float at our staff land meeting once I know more about the easement. Please know that we typically do not purchase properties with houses, the expense of upkeep and liability are not a good fit for us. Also, preservation funding can be difficult if not impossible to obtain when a property is considered already preserved, i.e. not a threat. I will bring it up at our meeting though to see if anyone has ideas for further preservation and trail connections. It certainly is a key property in the mix with Shiff, etc.

Best,

Ingrid
