Big D: Milford to Smithfield Beach, any hot tips?

Leaving this afternoon for a 2 night float on the Delaware out of our kayaks. Launching in Milford and finishing at Smithfield Beach. 28 miles I believe. Any hot tips? Looking for obviously Walleye, with Smallies 2nd on the list. Thanks guys.

That sounds like a nice float. I hope you can make the adjustment from the chaotic urban clamor of the Passaic River to the bucolic silence of the Delaware Water Gap. :D

I don't have any tips for someone of your level of experience. Just watch out for bears. All of my really close encounters with bears have been in the woods along that stretch of river.

Vertical jig any deep water and prepare for lots of smallies. I've been using two rods. One with a senko wacky rig for the shallow areas and one with a 3/8 Jig head tipped a with 5 inch grub. All my big fish (over 15 inches) has been in water deeper then 10 feet. It's been good.

Just past Dingmans launch float a worm and you will hit small mouth!

Probably too late for you to get this, but we floated that area yesterday and whacky riged senko produced the most strikes. When they did connect they tended to inhale them, so had a few deep hooks.

Thanks guys! I got into some Smallies and Pans in the early morning before the fog lifted off the water. Mostly average sized fish with one nice plus sized Smallie on a jointed Bomber. Fished the better Walleye spots at not peak time, so no luck with them. Lots of Bald Eagles, great trip. No poison ivy, ticks, or sunburn :p.
