Mud fishing...
Love the Passaic but its a workout walking through this slop. A few times my boot came off! One day I won't come home and they'll find my rotting corpse standing in 3 feet of mud. Hopefully there is a 45" pike on the end of my line when they do find me. New state record awarded to me posthumously:p

HA !! Great picture and I can say that there have been times when I had to take my foot out of the boot to get my boot out of the mud !
I had a good but frustrating morning on the river yesterday. Within the first 20 minutes, I had 5 great strikes from quality fish and didn't get one solid hook-up. I also didn't hook up with my next two strikes on the first swipe, but each one came back for a hook-up after the misses. I landed at least 10 for the morning, but I think my ratio was about 10 for 20 or so. Only two fish under 30 inches and all the rest in the low 30", and nothing over 34 inches. Danny V |
Re: Mud fishing...
I was out thursday & friday 6pm til dark and 8 hrs sat. Lots of walking. Lots of mud. Lots of swipes but few hookups/fish landed. I love my buzzbait but its 'batting' avg is about 10%. I get nearly every bass but pike is another story. I missed one nice pike 8 times -5 the first time and 3 an hour later. Another I missed 7 times. Fun but frustrating.
I also notice they seem to shut off just before dark. Like the last 20-30 min after sunset. Its wierd because as the sun is setting/barely on the water, they are quite active. |
