Stripers 6-17-2014

They are definitely still here. Great afternoon bite. Most of the fish were 30-35lbs, one table size fish we kept. All on live bunker, not even a run off on a dead bait or a chunk. Trick was to get the bait on the bottom. Guys who didn't weren't catching fish. Doubles were common. Found a whole stainless steel weighted treble hook in the belly of the one we kept. Got dinner and some tackle. Great day ... much better than yesterday.

Why would anyone use stainless steel hooks, let alone a stainless steel weighted treble. If you didn't catch that fish it was dead anyway....

At least give them a chance if they break off or something that the hook will rust out....

Good to know Earl, thanks.... Taking my grandson and some some friends out Thursday afternoon and hope to get into some.... Probably try for Stripers and switch off to Fluke if the Stripers don't show...

You say your are fishing the bottom.... I guess you are using sinkers to keep the bunker down deep??
