Shark River in the fog today
Had the day off and decided to fish the river, hard east wind, no party boats out, 1 charter out, he returned 30 minutes later. Now the fishing report
River held some fish, but mostly small. Had a full tide so decided to work the stretch back past the Belmar ramp. Caught fish the entire stretch, only problem, all 16 - 17 3/4, but a real blast on light tackle. Went thru 2 lbs. of spearing in just over 2 hours approx. 60 -70 fish between 2 of us.. Wind against tide held us pretty well, water temp 65.1. Also had a good size skate on the bucktail. One rowboat out, said he had 4 keepers on the incoming, none on the outgoing. Fun way to spend a crappy morning, this was not just fishing, but catching as well. |
Re: Shark River in the fog today
Nice job Henry, you know that stretch intimately and it always provides action !
I fished off the Avon Bulkhead earlier this week. The Police have posted no fishing signs on all streets West of First Ave., forcing everyone to fish towards the inlet. I had some action there on shorts too and saw a few keepers pulled up. I was using Gulp but the keepers all came on bait. . . . Happy Father's Day . . . |
