6/5 Big Trout highlights laker and brownie

Hit the lake @ 5 30 am and fished until noon. Weather was absolute crap..but hey that's what we were going for. Wind was howling and the rain was pouring. Cleared up by about 830 though. BigFishy nailed the first fish of the day and it was an absolute monster 28" brown that went an easy 9lbs. We didn't confirm the weight but did measure him. No measurement pic because we wanted to get him back in the water asap. He was about as fat as he could get. He hit a free swimmer on the surface like a great white from underneath it was amazing :) Thank god he wrapped himself in the leader so it took SOME fight out of him. The big browns run all over the damn place and its hard to keep up with them. Took us about 10 mins to get him in and he took us pretty much across the lake. Action slowed a little but we caught a few 20" browns here and there and missed several really good run offs..mainly because we were still celebrating and passing to the right lol. Then I was up FINALLY. We were in 30ft of water and got a nice slow run off. I set the hook and for a minute or 2 I thought it was bottom. Then the head shakes came. The fish did whatever he wanted. Finally got him up to the bow and saw it was a beast laker, he saw the boat and it was game on. Whoever says lakers fight like a dishtowel has to catch the active spring ones in shallow water. I think their lack of fight sometimes has to do with being very deep. Finally landed him and he was 30" and weighed in at 10lbs. Kept him and gave it to the parking lot attendant where I park for work that evening. He said it was delicious. Fished some more..missed some more due to celebrating...called it a day and went home. We accomplished 1 preseason goal today and got the brown we were looking for. Let the big ones live

Wow Nicely Done boys....That is a trophy brown for sure. Beautiful fish. And I'm with ya on the Lakers....if you get a nice one let alone a monster like that in less than 50 ft of water then they fight hard. Congrats are certainly in order....heck of a day there.
