river fishing question

After a strong rain, how many days does it take for the river to stop looking like chocolate milk. I like hitting the passaic for smallies and was wondering how long guys wait to hit the river after a good rain.

That's a good question, I fished the passaic early last week and it hadn't had a heavy rain in a while and it was still yoohoo

Re: river fishing question

It may take weeks to go back to crystal clear, but depending on the size of the river, usually about 3-5 days before it is fishable. As long as the river isn't up over its banks and puking mud, there are fish to be had.

Re: river fishing question

It all depends on the river. Smaller rivers will generally go down sooner than bigger ones. Rocky rivers will clear up a lot faster than silty ones.
