D. smallies

Spent a nice day with the fam but got the itch around 7 for some river time. River's down about 7 feet from the last outing but still quite high and stained. Set one rod out for cats and wandered around casting my u.l. for trout or smallies. Hit a great little seam and brought in 2 smallies, 17 and 18.5 They both went straight into current and gave me a helluva time landing. One nice runoff on the baitrunner but no hook-up with a cat. Water looked perfect for shad but I didn't bring gear. So many fish, so little time:cool:

I've been watching the gauges, river has been very high for a long time now. Glad you got out and nailed a few !

Sounds like a nice night at the river. Those river Smallies are super strong, having to deal with all the floods and constant changes on the river.

No catfish?!?!?!?!?
