dover sport for sale

stopped in yesterday for some shiners and saw the weichert signs up on the building and lot. asked about it and they said that with the economy and such they didn't really have a choice anymore. the store will be closing unless someone buys the business/inventory as a package deal along with the real estate. :(

they probably could have done a little more to stay up with the times and prices weren't always the greatest, but still it is sad to see an old time sporting goods place closing up... they've been there since way back when craigmeur was a ski slope!

remember to support your local businesses if you want them to stick around

Damn. I used to buy bait there all the time when I was a kid. I hate to see it close; they always did right by us.

I was in there once but didn't think much of the selection of fishing gear

Great store sign. A lost art.

I bought bait there several times with winter for the hard water. Hopefully someone buys it and keeps it open.

Never been there. There was a time when you had to go to a tackle shop to buy tackle. I remember buying my first spinning rod at Rays Sport Shop.
Now, most people either order their stuff online or go to one of the big-box stores like Walmart and Cabelas.

I couldn't imagine someone investing in a small tackle shop these days. It seems like most people just go to the small shops to buy bait and maybe a few small items. Could someone really pay the bills selling minnows and cups of nightcrawlers?
