Trout in the Classroom
6 Attachment(s)
8th year of Trout in the Classroom which I introduced to Passaic High School. My colleague happened to take some gorgeous shots of our babies which I would like to share.....they are destined for the Paulinskill River on May 12; we then proceed to the hatchery where my students learn about freshwater conservation and have a fishing experience at the education pond which is stocked with lunkers; they can even take a fish home if they want. Great fun had by all....

Thats great. Passaic high interested in fish..... wow!
Whats do you think the survival rate is going to be on those babies in the river? |
Re: Trout in the Classroom
Excellent job...I wish I had teachers back in the day that showed that type of interest in fish and fishing!!!

This is a great program F&W offers - Thanks Dave for bringing this into your classroom and to your students, especially in an area like Passaic. Fish on !!!

.
That's really awesome. (If I recall your initial thread, this aquarium requires a chiller to keep the water cool enough for the trout. The average home aquarium can't house trout.) I wish I had teachers who had class room activities like this when I was in high school. It might have had an impact on me and shaped what I choose to do after high school. . |

Great job, Dave. Good to see them growing and to be released soon. It's a good way to get the kids into nature and animals too.
I've got some Apistogramma fry I'm raising myself, but not for release obviously. It's fun stuff watching them grow. |
