After Work Bass 4-9-14 (with video)
 

I recently picked up a new reel and was just itching to give it a try, so I loaded it into the car after work and hit a local pond. While there were about a dozen people on one side of the pond trying for the recently stocked trout, I made my way to the other side of the pond and found a school of chunky largemouths.

Damn Lard, nice way to break in the new reel! Also not a half bad way to end a day, especially after work! I'm curious, is that culvert in the corner of the pond and inlet or outlet? Looks like an inlet, could be a bit warmer flow entering there that might explain the congregation of fish in the area. No matter what it's still a cool piece of vid!

It was an inlet, and I was thinking it was the current that was concentrating the fish there, and not temperature, but you could be right. That section of the pond is shallower with dark rocks on the bottom, so it was likely a few degrees warmer than the rest of the pond.

Only tried there once last year, not a nibble. Used to catch loads of dinks there when I was younger. Wish they would put some pickerel in there as the underwater weeds are nice.

nice work! i was thinking of hitting a lake this weekend thats sstocked but for bass, just hate getting that dumb trout stamp just to be allowed to fish the lake
