Lower Musky Opening Day
Lots of fisherman out Saturday. Most I talked to were from Pa. Water was 36 degrees. The wind was horrible all day.
First cast (with a butterworm) of the year I hooked a four pound rainbow that jumped three times and refuse to give up. After five minutes he got off right at my feet. I proceeded to catch six more rainbows on butterworms the next two hours. I released two small ones. There were lots of bites but the fish were just mouthing the bait. I saw five more trout caught on corn and worms. I then hooked into a fat 17" rainbow that was about three pounds. The man upstream from me netted it for me. The hooked came out as soon as the net went under the fish. I then caught another nice rainbow. My son, Doug, showed up and we went on a long walk seeking trout. That did not pan out. I hope he learned to stay by the part of the streams that are stocked. I came home with a cooler of decent trout. Cold, miserable but happy. I'm on my way again before the rain comes this afternoon. |
